Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18.10.26

This policy explains what personal information I collect when you use my website, sign up for anything or buy from me, what I do with it, and the rights you have over it. I've kept it in plain English, because nobody reads the other kind.

1. Who I am

This website is run by Laurie Macpherson, trading as Laurie Macpherson based in Scotland. For the purposes of UK data protection law I am the data controller, which means I decide how your information is used and I'm responsible for looking after it.

Contact: hello@lauriemacpherson.com

Postal address: 9/2, 1 Templeton Court, G40 1EF.

ICO registration number: ZB607046

2. What this policy covers

It covers lauriemacpherson.com and everything sold or delivered through it, including my bundles, courses, programmes, workshops, free downloads, email list and live sessions.

3. What information I collect

When you buy a bundle or any other product, I collect:

•      your name and email address

•      billing details such as your address and country (needed for receipts and tax records)

•      what you bought, when, and how much you paid

Your card details are handled directly by my payment provider, Stripe or PayPal. I never see or store your full card number.

When you sign up for something free (like my private podcast or a masterclass), I collect your name and email address.

When you join a live session, the video platform (Zoom) processes your name, email and anything you choose to share on camera or in the chat. If a session is recorded, I'll tell you at the start.

When you email me or reply to my emails, I keep that correspondence.

When you browse the site, some technical information is collected automatically through cookies, such as your device type, browser and pages visited. See section 9.

4. How I use it, and my legal reason for doing so

UK law says I need a lawful basis for each thing I do with your information. Here they are:

What I do

Why

Lawful basis

Deliver the bundle or product you bought, give you access, and send you login and purchase emails

So you get what you paid for

Contract

Keep records of sales and payments

HMRC requires it

Legal obligation

Send you my marketing emails (tips, offers, news) after you've signed up for something free

You asked to hear from me

Consent

Send marketing emails about similar products to people who've bought from me

It's relevant to what you bought, and you can opt out any time

Legitimate interests (the 'soft opt-in' allowed under PECR)

Reply to your questions and handle complaints or refunds

To look after customers properly

Legitimate interests

Use non-essential cookies for analytics or advertising

To understand what's working and show relevant ads

Consent (via the cookie banner)

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it and you're off the list, no hard feelings. You'll still get emails you need about anything you've bought (like access details).

I don't sell your information. Ever. I don't make automated decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

5. Who I share it with

I only share your information with the services I need to run my business, and only what they need:

•      Systeme.io: hosts my website, sales pages, checkout, courses and email list

•      Stripe / PayPal: processes payments

•      Zoom: runs live sessions

•      Meta

I may also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC or the police.

6. Information sent outside the UK

Some of these providers store or process data outside the UK, including in the EU and the USA. Where that happens, I rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the providers' standard data protection clauses.

7. How long I keep it

•      Purchase and payment records: 6 years from the end of the tax year they relate to, because HMRC says so

•      Course and bundle access: for as long as the product is available to you

•      Email list: until you unsubscribe, or until you've not opened anything for a long time and I clear you out

•      Correspondence: up to 2 years after we last spoke, unless it relates to a purchase

8. Your rights

You have the right to:

•      ask for a copy of the information I hold about you

•      ask me to correct anything that's wrong

•      ask me to delete your information (unless I have to keep it, like sales records)

•      object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use it

•      withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing

•      ask for your information in a format you can take elsewhere

To do any of these, email hello@lauriemacpherson.com I'll respond within one month. It's free, unless a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.

9. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device. Essential cookies make the site and checkout work and don't need your consent. Anything else, like analytics or advertising cookies, only runs if you agree through the cookie banner. You can change your mind at any time by clearing your cookies / using the cookie settings link in the footer, and you can block cookies in your browser settings.

10. Keeping it safe

I use reputable providers with proper security, strong passwords and two-factor authentication on my accounts, and I only keep what I need. No system is completely bulletproof, but if there's ever a breach that puts you at risk, I'll tell you and the ICO as the law requires.

11. Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please talk to me first at hello@lauriemacpherson.com and I'll sort it. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK regulator: ico.org.uk or 0303 123 1113.

12. Changes to this policy

I'll update this policy when things change. The date at the top tells you when it was last updated.
